This year (2008-2009) Cub Scout Pack 222 is working on several projects in cooperation with the Maple East Elementary Goodwill Junior Club.

Our Year as planned thus far:

         October 15:

  • Making cards and bags for Bassett Manor
    • Goodwill Jr. will decorate bags and make cards for the residents of Bassett Manor. 
    • The Cub Scouts will fill the bags with goodies and deliver them to the Bassett Manor Residents for Halloween.
  • Halloween Activity Bags for the Children’s Hospital
    • We will make bags full of Halloween activities to keep the patients at the Children's Hospital entertained during the fall.
  • Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF
  • November 12:

  • Collecting for the Gorillas at the Buffalo Zoo
    • The Gorilla's are in a playful mood! We are collecting wrapping paper or larger cardboard tubes and old sheets so they can play peek-a-boo and swords in the Gorilla House! Please help us by dropping off your old sheets and tubes into the box in the school's front entrance.
    • The Cub Scouts will deliver these to the Zoo
  • Making Cards for Compeer
    • The students in K, 1st and 2nd will make cards for Compeer's Holiday Party. These cards will hopefully brighten the day for many people needing a caring thought.
  • Making Fleece Scarves for Mitten Drive
    • The students in 3rd & 4th will make no sew fleece scarves for our Mitten Drive
    • Goodwill Jr. is holding its annual Mitten Drive. We are collecting mittens, hats and scarves. You can drop off your donations in the box in the school's front entrance hall.
    • The students will also decorate a collection box for the Mitten Drive

    December 10:

  • Making Pine Cone Bird feeders
    • We will make Pine Cone Bird feeders for residents at Bassett Manor.
    • Maple East Cub Scouts will deliver and hang them on the resident's windows so they may enjoy viewing our feathered friends.

    January 14:

  • Making Valentine Cans and Cards for the VA
    • Goodwill Jr. helpers in K, 1st & 2nd will decorate coffee cans for Veterans. 
    • The 3rd and 4th Graders will make cards to go with the gift baskets
    • The Cub Scouts will fill them with cookies and deliver them to the Veterans for Valentines Day.

    February 11: Open

     

    March 11:

  • Make Spring Baskets for Camp Good Days & Special Times

    April 22:

  • Make Fleece Blankets for the Linus Project (will need extra volunteers for this project)
    • We will all make fleece blankets for the Linus Project. These blankets will go to comfort those in children’s hospitals

    May 20: Open & Year End Party

     

 

Items we will be recycling throughout the year - if you are cleaning house - keep us in mind!

 

October: Orange & Yellow Felt for Jack-O-Lanterns

 

 

 

November: Fleece pieces for scarf (long strips ~ 5-7 inches wide (also in April we will need bigger square/rectangle pieces to make blankets.

Nov./Dec./Jan: Old sheets & Wrapping Paper (or larger) cardboard tubes.

 

 

 

 

 

December Large Open Pine Cones good for stuffing with lard and seeds

 

 

January - February: Washed Coffee Cans with lids

Cookies for Veterans

 

 

April: Fleece pieces for blanket we will need bigger square/ rectangle pieces to make blankets.
