Look for this guy. When I add new things to a finished page, I’ll pop him in.  See Calendar page for an example.

I have begun entering items onto our Photo Gallery page.  A picture is worth a thousand words.

The Calendar Page holds a list of our meetings and activities.

What do I do to earn my Bobcat Badge? The FIRST badge I earn in Cub Scouting?

**Maple East Goodwill Junior Club**

The Goodwill Junior Club is a PTA-sponsored volunteer group that meets once a month after school to work on a project that will benefit people in need.  We try to have fun activities that promote the value of helping others and also support collections for various community organizations.  For example, in the past we have made bead bracelets for Camp Good Days, assembled snack bags for the Food Bank, and rolled coins collected for the Autism Society, among many other things.

Students from all grades are welcome, but they must be registered in order to attend.  To enroll, just send in the attached form (one for each child, please) in an envelope marked “PTA/Goodwill Jr.”  It is very important that children bring in a signed note for the attendance office on each meeting date stating that they will stay after school for Goodwill Junior. Otherwise, the staff must send the children home and that can result in unpleasant surprises!  It would also be helpful to put a note on your children’s backpacks to remind them where to go after school, so they don’t get on the bus by mistake.

We will be meeting on the following Wednesdays from 2:15pm to 2:45pm in the cafeteria: Oct.15, Nov. 12, Dec. 10, Jan. 14, Feb. 11, Mar. 11, April 22, and May 20.  Please mark these dates on your calendars now!  Teachers will escort the children directly from their classrooms.  Transportation home afterward is the responsibility of the parent.  For security purposes, an adult must sign out each child.  Please use the parking lot and do not block the bus/fire lane.  Please note on the form below if your child will be attending the “JustFor Kids” afterschool program; we need to have a list of those children so that we can escort them over to the program.

To make the activities more meaningful, please discuss the projects at home.  Check The Lion’s Pen to see what we will be doing each month.  For October, we will be making Halloween activity kits for the patients at Children’s Hospital as well as offering UNICEF collection boxes for children who would like to participate.

During the meetings, many adults are needed for supervision, assistance, and fun!  In fact, we are required to cancel any meeting for which there is an inadequate adult: child ratio.  Please consider attending at least one meeting with your child, if possible (younger children can come, too).  You can indicate which date(s) you are available on the form below.  We request that adult volunteers arrive at 1:45pm to help set up and stay through clean-up.

Please keep the above for reference, return the enrollment form by Wed., Oct. 8th and feel free to call if you have any questions.

Thank you!  Rosalind Sulaiman (568-9060) and Kirsti Rooks (688-7817)
